2011. Alex is 10. See that scary scribbley thing behind him there? That was the first ever doodle I drew that eventually became Alex waaaaaaayy back in 2001. Back then he had no name or character, short spiky, green and purple hair and studs and spikes on his clothes and the streak in his hair continued down his face. He's too lazy to stick that elaborate wardrobe now, and the hair is longer but the same color. It doesn't show up well, but he's smoking in the doodle too.

In the lower left-hand corner are a horrible Joker and Batman doodle. They were on the same page of the falling-apart book I drew Alex in. It was during a boring class or equally boring meeting. That's the kind of stuff I do in meetings (and did in class). For my senior project I did an action figure, packaging and comic pages with a cover...Isis was the "star" but I fleshed out the doodle and added an Alex as the bad guy lol. He kicked her ass and became my favorite. If there had been a third page, David would have saved her. He came a little later but not much.

10 years, a lot of development, several character overhauls while still keeping the important character traits and one giant re-write later....well, I've got something anyway.

Now, random stuff.

• the tattoo he's yanking his pants down to show you is a cartoon dracula. He thinks it's funny. You should see what he's got on his ass.

• I downloaded at least three fonts and a crapton of PS brushes to do that graffiti wall. It was fun, cause I don't usually do that stuff.

• Over the last ten years i've often wondered if Alex's color palate was stolen from the Joker (Iz a huge Batman fan). Uncovering that old book and seeing them both on the same page (the drawings were actually connected, Alex's leg disappeared into the Joker's head lol) makes me think it probably was.

• I reeeeeeallly hope my art has improved in the last 10 years....

• Alex took me the longest to name. Isis was the first, David the second, Alex didn't get a full name until last year. His first name came first, about 5 years later his last name (stolen from my own family tree when my mom was showing it too me) and his middle name just in 2010.

• This thing is so huge it tried to kill my computer. I had to keep flattening all the layers so it would work. I need more memory =_=

• if anyone actually reads any of this, I'll be amazed.

i read it & am impresed love the Joker (am a fan too) lovethe description of alex you should keep goin (you make me wanna finish my characters& post em as well also © by me asl well hope to recerface them soon) love the vamp aspect of it (am a fan too)

I read it, and that was awesome. A biography of Alex, was really cool. Can't wait to here more of his story. Love the drawing btw, very accurate to your doll. He has a badass personality. Wish he was real, I know people like him though lol. Maybe him and my girl Chesie -when she gets her at the end of the month- can be friends?

lol thanks! Actually the character came first, the doll looks freakishly like him. Which is why I bought him! XD
LOL a lot of people wish he was real, but I'm not one of them...if he was real the first thing he'd do is kick my ass.

Well I like gorey vampire goth guys, I tend to be like that at times, seeing as people tend to mistake my tomboyishness as a guy in general lol. I'm getting Mei doll from resinsoul.com and her head/body is the second picture under details [link] and I bought her purple/gray cat eyes and a short red/black wig as well. I have a lot of punk/goth clothing I'm making when she arrives. Might make pointed teeth. Will make cat paws out of felt for her feet and hands as well. I'm just excited. Cheshie is about 43cms tall as well.

Aw I used to own a Mei! Due to circumstances I sold her, but of course, I want another one now. Only pink this time. That's exciting!! I think she sounds really cool, I'd love to see pictures when you get her!

I understand, sometimes you just can't keep things you need money more or don't have room for them. I got her as white, and I have an obsession with cats. Can't you tell? lol. Yes I'll take pictures asap when I get her. The vcat eyes are 16mm which can fit in her face but she'll look more child like which is better for me cause I have a child like personality even though I'm almost 20. I enjoy BJD, she'll eventually have a boyfriend and maybe a child. I was thinking about getting a fawn girl and maybe a vampire as well. But hey start with one get them figured out, then it's collecting time

I'm kind of scared of getting a doll a custom color because I wouldn't be sure if I'd like the coloring of the doll. I like human skin color and ghost white. That and the fact that the companies charge extra for custom color. bleh idk. I was thinking about getting Yao from resinsoul in gray but I'm really not sure.

I just got my first grey doll last week! He's an Angell Studio Kimo...I got the Kimi head too. It's my first fantasy color XD I love him, he's really a nice color! I would love to get an RS Rong in Grey...I have a whole mess of elves planned out to go with my Coffee Song (he's old lol, he turned two this month) but so far all I have is...one head. I need to get saving!!

LOL at least you already know that BJDs multiply! I love when people are all "I'm only getting one!" I actually said that once a million years ago...

I really like the fawns, I saw a Minimee of the fawn from Pan's Labyrinth, and it was the most amazing thing ever! The one Minimee I wish I'd gotten. I haven't seen any finished yet though. So many companies are coming out with hooved dolls, it's a good time to want one XD

I think your Mei will be adorable! I hope she comes fast!

So gray will work for Yao who is a fawn doll- [link] I think it's cool she comes with horns as well. She's next on my list along with Gang [link] who will probably be naturally skin toned His name will be the nickname of my boyfriend in real life Glazgow lol. And since my nickname is Kitty and a lot of people/dolls are named that I went with Cheshie (Cheshire) for my elf doll lol. All based off of everyone. I've been highly fascinated with these dolls for a long while I just finally got a job so now I can save up and collect 5-6 doll family

I like this especially for the collage-ie kinda feel it has. And the history it represents. It's good to keep track of where the OCs come from, isn't it? It's kinda funny 'cause recently I was looking at some original drawings I did of Agni and a few others. There's one I kinda want to post just for the sake of showing how they've changed.

That's way manlier than Alex's ass-tattoo. It's a penguin in a scarf. He only goes to tattoo parlors when wasted...

You should post some! I love seeing how stuff develops...I always buy artists sketchbooks because of that. XD
